Trade began because not everyone had the same goods and they needed to exchange them for one another. For example, I have a surplus of bread and my neighbor has a surplus of goat’s milk. I would trade a loaf of bread for a bucket of milk.

5. What is another word(s) for Neolithic Era? New Stone Age

7. Define surplus- extra amount of a certain good. Synonym-extra
8. What effect did agriculture have on people?- New technology was used, new methods were used, able to trade, shorter lifespan and shorter height of humans, people began to live in one area*, domestication of plants and animals, have a surplus of good.
9. Where is Catal Huyuk located?- Turkey
10. What are some of the first domesticated plants and animals?- Squash, wheat, sheep, cattle
11. List 3 ancient farming tools. –Hoe, plow, ax, sickle, flail, quern
12. What was slash and burn used for?- To clear out trees to be able to farm
13. What is the significance of Catal Huyuk? One of the first ancient cities or communities to be built. Largest city this old uncovered by archaeologists.
14. What is believed to be the first city? – Jericho
15. Between what years did the New Stone Age occur? Roughly 10,000 BC to 4,000BC

Thank you to all of those who participated in our school election. I'm very proud of all my students who helped organize and run the election today and I'm even more proud of your growth in passion and knowledge in regards to the election.

Also I hope we are tuned in tonight to watch this historical moment and to soak it in. As you enter your high school and college history classes, this will be discussed tremendously and you can say you witnessed it.....This is a night you should be proud to live in America.
